As far as I'm concerned, this is the final straw for us and 2023 needs to be the year for change in this broken system! This needs to be the year that the fans show Nintendo if not the whole industry that their feelings will not be exploited for corporate/financial gain without repercussions. The fans are bigger than all these groups put together and it's time for them to put their collective foot down. If not now then when?

For all their hatred of video game piracy, they're the ones whose actions are making the case (albeit UN-intentionally for their part) for why piracy is in fact a necessity for rescuing games that would otherwise be doomed to oblivion on long abandoned systems just because the owners of the copyright DIDN'T see the need to bring them over to the current gen. In the end it's all about worshiping the all-mighty gold plated, jewel encrusted and dollar/euro/yen sign printed BOTTOMLINE and anything that doesn't (at least in their minds) support that is a threat to them JUST BECAUSE!

WEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLL....................Stinking Nintendo has really gone and done it now! As if video game preservation wasn't dire enough already, now we're finally losing the legacy value of the 3DS and Wii U with the near-full closure of their eshops on March 27th! And those boneheads are even more stubborn than Sony! They even lobbying efforts within the ESA to intentionally make game preservation as difficult as possible. They are fast on their way to becoming the next Atari in the worst way possible!

In addition, many of the games on those stores are already available on other systems including ps4, switch and even on steam (especially on steam). I've never been a pc gamer before now, but after the stores have closed I may reconsider and open a steam account for the first time. There's also a problem with the ps3/ps4 hardware involving the CMOS/PRAM battery that will potentially prevent access to all digital purchases in the future and by extension all physical purchases in the case of the ps4. In any event Sony didn't just drop the ball they lost it AND their marbles.

Digital exclusive games and content are about to disappear potentially forever and everything else.....well that stuff will be that much harder to find physically and even more expensive to obtain be it new or used. Sony needs to wise up and either keep those stores open or AT LEAST guarantee that this WON'T be the last of those stores content. I may not ever plan to get an xbox anytime soon but I still respect Microsoft for their efforts towards video game preservation. At least they know what's what.

....................Well Sony has done it AGAIN! Just when I thought they weren't boneheaded enough not only have they already shut down the psp playstation store as well as the ability to purchase psp ps3 and ps vita content on the official ps store website, but now by july and august all digital purchaseability of any of those systems digital content...WILL...BE..........GOOOOOONNNNNNNEEEEEE! The current state of video game preservation is dire enough already without this happening.

Well..........Happy Birthday to ME.............LITERALLY! I'm another year older (and SOMEHOW still kicking) it's the start of a whole new decade on planet Earth and THANK THE GOOD LORD ABOVE we're all still alive in spite of everything that's happened. 2020 has been one heck of a rollercoaster that's for sure. Businesses have closed or downsized, Flash will have bowed out by the 12th of January (though BlueMaxima.org's Operation Flashpoint (Be Sure To check It Out) has preserved a significant portion of it and Newgrounds Flash content is still there for viewing or playing as long as you downloaded and installed their Newgrounds Player to do so which is safe and easy enough and Adobe Animate (which is essentially a rebranded version of Flash) will still be supported) and it has even tested the very limits of our sanity and patience. But it's also brought out the best in us all as well. I've watched people come together in ways I can't even begin to describe and if we all continue to have that same mindset going forward, 2021 and beyond could be better than ever.

Here's to a brand new year full of good cheer, good health, random and not so random acts of kindness and "Goodwill towards Mankind"! :D
